Welcome to the beginnings of Wyatt’s Superfine—a new restaurant coming soon to Charlotte, NC.

The history… The historic Leeper & Wyatt building used to sit on South Boulevard in South End Charlotte. It is a 1903 former grocery store built by industrialist D.A. Tompkins to serve the Atherton Mill Village and neighboring areas of Wilmore and Dilworth. It is the oldest commercial retail brick building in South End. The building is designated as a historic landmark by Mecklenburg County. Read more about the history of the building here.

The name… The new restaurant’s name, Wyatt’s Superfine, is in honor of the grocer, Pleasant Wyatt, who owned and operated the small grocery for about a half a century, called the Wyatt company. “Superfine” pertains to a level of grain milling—fine enough to make certain breads and pastas—staples for any delicious meal.

The move… On September 12, 2024, the Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group physically moved the historic Leeper Wyatt structure 750 feet off South Boulevard and up Cleveland Avenue to it’s new home right next to their new steak and surf restaurant, Leluia Hall. For more details, watch a full episode from the new PBS television series Fork & Hammer on the move of the building.
